BUTTERFLIES IN YOUTH SERVICES

Come see the butterflies in Youth Services. Our local "Butterfly Lady", Terri Kiefer, has once again provided the Library with the opportunity to watch butterflies change from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. There is a big screened box on the YS Reference Desk. As of yesterday, there were 3 emerged butterflies, two chrysalises, and one caterpillar--another caterpillar had become a chrysalis while no one was looking, within a half hour. There are more in the display cabinet.
Here's the box--one chrysalis is at the top on the left and one monarch is at the top on the right, and just barely visible near the bottom, in the center, on a leaf, is the remaining caterpillar:

The other two monarchs were on the bottom, one drinking the provided sugar water:

This display will be available for, probably, two weeks.
