ADULT SERVICES:
Chinese New Year is February 7 this year. Get a head start on the festivities by learning how to make authentic Chinese dishes at Celebrate the Chinese New Year with Ying Stoller, author of Ying's Chinese Cookbook: Authentic but Simple, on Monday, January 21, at 7 p.m. Recipes and tasting opportunities will be available. Sign up online.
One Computer Class is offered this week, Internet Basics, on Saturday, January 26, at 2:15 p.m.--learn what toolbars, hyperlinks, and Internet addresses are and how they can be used to find information on the World Wide Web. Participants must be able to use a computer mouse. Register online; class size is limited.
YOUTH SERVICES:
On Monday, January 21, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, American Eagle Productions will present a musical adaptation of Shel Silverstein's Where the Sidewalk Ends at 11 a.m. Recommended for ages 4 and up; preschoolers must come with an adult. No tickets are needed, but seating is limited. Elk Grove Village residents will be given priority.
As part of the Winter Reading Program, Chicago Wolves player Right Wing Jesse Schultz will be at the Library on Tuesday, January 22, from 7-8 p.m. As part of his appearance he will talk about his experiences, put a Wolves uniform on one of the attending children, and sign autographs. No registration or tickets are needed. [It's very early this year.]
It is not too late to sign up for the Read to Succeed Reading Program. Stop in any time at the Youth Services Desk. Earn 2 raffle tickets for every 30 minutes of reading (up to 14 hours worth a week)--one ticket is for a weekly raffle and one ticket is for the final raffle at the end of the program in March. Prizes include Wolves t-shirts, Skates dolls, knit hats, and more.
This week also is the beginning of Winter Storytimes and Classes, running through April 10.
Book Babies (for ages 6-18 months with an adult)--Mondays from 10-10:20 a.m.
Lapsit (for ages 18 months-2 1/2 years with an adult)--Mondays from 10:30-10:50 a.m.
NEW: Twilight Tales (for ages 6 months-2 1/2 years with an adult)--Thursdays from 6:30-6:50 p.m.
Storytime (all ages and parents are welcome) --Wednesdays at 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 7 p.m.
No registration is necessary for these classes.

Children who attend these classes are eligible for the weekly raffle drawing. Winners will get a $10 Barnes &Noble Gift Card.
