CONSTRUCTION UPDATE AS OF WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 28
Wednesday the workers had blocked off more of the lobby (and patrons had to come in by the side front door) so more of the tile could be laid:
Some of the grouting has already been done on the new tile:

The plastic curtain has been removed (or pushed back, at least) and the new checkout area can be seen:

The new counter is curved and long:

There is still a lot to do, as seen from this back view of the counter:

This is the view from the counter towards the front door:

The tall counters in the Wireless Cafe area are getting decorative glass panels:

The third display case is now just inside the doors to Adult Services:

More progress is being made in the Circulation Workroom:

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE AS OF WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 14
Wednesday night the new foyer/lobby lights were lit up:

There are also new lights in the overhang:

Overall, right now the lobby has four different kinds of lights--bright!:

Looking at the lobby as you come through the front door; a section by the remaining visible pillar is now blocked off:

Some areas were visible behind the blocked off area. Looking towards the old bathrooms, there might be windows put in there(?):

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE AS OF TUESDAY NOVEMBER 13
At first look on Tuesday, it didn't look like much had been done in the public areas. From the rotunda looking through the door to the Circulation Workroom you could just see that the walls have been filled in some and are just about ready for paint or whatever will be covering them:

Then I noticed the new hanging lights where the display case had been:

I took a picture of the work lights in the foyer:

and noticed there were new light fixtures there as well:

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE AS OF FRIDAY NOVEMBER 9
The only visible sign of progress was the wider 'aisle" leading to the Youth department. Anyone now used to just keeping next to the wall going into YS found themselves walking into the window (!):

YA CRAFT NIGHT
Last night there was a craft night for students in grades 6 to 12. The project was a Photo Cube made from discarded CD cases. The prototype was made by Mrs. M:

Eleven girls attended and had a lot of fun choosing background papers and embellishments for photos and copied pictures from the huge array of scrapbooking materials provided. Because it takes so long for the glue to dry, the girls worked on the individual sides separately and then glued it all together just before they left. I took pictures just before they made the cubes so all sides could be seen at once. Some girls were going to finish at home.

They are all so creative! Great job, girls! and thanks to Mrs. Hoffman, Mrs. Casper, Mrs. M., and Mrs. Chromyk!

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE AS OF THURSDAY NOVEMBER 8
There's not much to see right now. It must all be going on behind the plastic curtain in the lobby part--not accessible for pictures. However, all of the rotunda lights were on last night--very bright (one picture is using the flash and the other is without a flash):

Slightly closer look at them:

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE AS OF TUESDAY NOVEMBER 6R
All morning there was a lot of sawing and hammering noise going on in the rotunda area. And that was because the new wood flooring was being laid down:

Once the boards were all in, the installer trimmed them to make this lovely curved edge:

Here's another look:

Another hanging light fixture was hung over by the former display-case area:

Some of the new lights were actually lit for a short time:

Very pretty.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE AS OF SUNDAY NOVEMBER 4
When I went to the Library on Sunday for the Game Day event, I saw that they had added rectangular white 'boxes" to the hanging frame

(a second view)

and to the fixtures on the West side as well.

It seems as if they are replacing supplementing the silver metal lights with these white oblongs.
The display cases on the North wall have been removed:
