LIBRARY HAPPENINGS FEBRUARY 26-MARCH 4
ADULT SERVICES:
On Monday evening, February 26, at 7 p.m., Dr. Ranae Yockey, OB, will present a program on Today's Healthcare for Today's Woman. Screenings, fitness, hormonal issues, and illnesses specific to women will be among the topics covered. Register by calling Alexian Connects at 1-866-ALEXIAN (253-9426).
Only one Computer Class is being offered this week:
Internet: Beyond the Basics, at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28--learn shortcuts and tricks to be able to navigate the Web more efficiently. Participants must be able to use a mouse. Register at the Reception Desk.
YOUTH SERVICES:
On Thursday, March 1, from 7-8:30 p.m., Shannon Townsend (aka Kenmei Rokugatsu) will give another of her popular Anime/Manga Workshops for students in grades 6-12. As an added attraction there will also be a Cosplay Contest--come dressed as your favorite Manga or Anime character and win a special prize. It is not necessary to wear a costume to be able to attend the workdshop. Snacks, beverages, and raffle prizes will be available as well. Register online.

BOOK SALE THIS WEEKEND
The Friends Annual Booksale is tomorrow, Saturday, from 9-4, and Sunday from 1-4 ($5 Bag Sale). So many books, videos, cd's, etc., they barely fit in the room. Loads of children's stuff and paperbacks. There is even a special group of books in Japanese.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS FEBRUARY 19-25
ADULT SERVICES:
The annual Friends Used Book Sale is this coming weekend. Friday night, February 23, is the special Members Only Preview (New members of the Friends can join that evening) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday, February 24, the sale will be open to everyone from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. On Sunday, February 25, the sale will be available to anyone who pays $5 for a bag to fill; it will run from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. I hear there are LOTS of paperbacks, childrens' books, music cds, videos, toys and games, and more. Some of the items have been on display near the circulation desk.
One Computer course is being offered this week: Internet Basics on Wednesday, February 21, at 1 p.m.--learn about toolbars, URLs, hyperlinks, and more at this introduction to the World Wide Web. Participants must be able to use a mouse. Register at the Reception Desk.
YOUTH SERVICES:
As part of the Presidents' Day celebration on Monday, February 19, Jeffrey the Great's One Man Magic Circus will be presenting two shows in Kids Korner, at 11 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m.
For all ages, but adults must accompany preschoolers; no strollers will be allowed (no space). Tickets are not required, but space is limited.
The Babysitters' Training Course will begin this coming Saturday, February 24. It is a two-part course, meeting on the 24th and also on Saturday, March 3, from 10:30 a.m. till 2:30 p.m. Chidren ages 10-16 may enroll. Sign up using the New Online Registration; the $10 fee can be made later at the Youth Services Desk. Registration is limited.

WOLVES' PLAYER VISIT RESCHEDULED
Because of the blizzard-like storm on Tuesday, February 13, the Library closed early and all afternoon and evening programs were cancelled. However, the Wolves Player visit has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 27, at 7 p.m.

ADULT SERVICES:
This week only one Computer Class will be offered:
Internet Basics--toolbars, hyperlinks, URL addresses, and more will all be explained to interested "Newbies". It is scheduled for Monday, February 12, at 10:00 a.m. Participants must be able to use a mouse. Register at the Reception Desk; class size is limited.
YOUTH SERVICES:
On Tuesday, February 13, Chicago Wolves hockey player Jordan LaVallee, Left Wing, will appear at the Library from 7-8 p.m. He will answer questions, sign autographs, and will also bring a Wolves uniform for one of the children to try on, protective gear and all. No registration is necessary. It will be presented in Kids Korner in Youth Services.

ADULT SERVICES:
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, starring Johnny Depp, Keira Knightly, and Orlando Bloom, will be shown Monday night, February 5, at 7 p.m. in the Large Meeting Room. Tickets are available at the Reception Desk.
There will be several Computer Classes offered this week:
Internet: Beyond the Basics will be offered on Monday, February 5, at 9:30 a.m.--navigate the Internet more efficiently using shortcuts and tricks
Microsoft Word 2002 will be offered on Monday, February 5, at 7 p.m.--learn how to create, edit, and save documents
Windows Explorer will be offered on Thursday, February 8, at 7 p.m.--organize your PC using files and folders
Participants must know how to use a mouse. Register at the Reception Desk.
The Morning Book Group will be discussing the children's book Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko on Tuesday, February 6, at 10:30 a.m. Call Chris Mika at ext. 272 for more information.
YOUTH SERVICES:
On Saturday, February 10, a special Drop-In Valentine Craft will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration (Online) is preferred.
Children can still register for the Wolves' Winter Reading Program: Read to Succeed. Earn raffle tickets for Wolves' related prizes for every 30 minutes of reading. Sign up at the Youth Services desk.
