LIBRARY HAPPENINGS DECEMBER 25-31

YOUTH SERVICES:
On Wednesday, December 27, Beth Weis, the Lego Lady will present a program for children ages 4 and up. Participants will have the opportunity to build giant group projects as well as individual ones with Lego. There are two sessions scheduled, one at 1 p.m. and one at 2:30 p.m. Each is limited to 60 children. Register in Youth Services.

On Thursday, December 28, Vent Elations Ventriloquism (Stephanie Johnson) returns with the new musical, Todd's Amazing Adventure. It is scheduled for 11 a.m.. No tickets are needed, but seating is limited. Preschoolers must be accompanied by an adult.

On Friday, December 28, the movie Barnyard will be shown at 10 a.m. No tickets are needed for this PG rated film--in which a group of farm animals learn to run a farm while the farmer is away--, but preschoolers must come with an adult.

LIBRARY CLOSINGS DECEMBER 2006

The Elk Grove Village Library will be closed today, Sunday, December 24, and Monday, December 25. It will reopen Tuesday, December 26 at 9 a.m.

It will also be closed on New Years Eve as well as New Years Day--Sunday and Monday again.

LIBRARY HAPPENNINGS DECEMBER 18-24

ADULT SERVICES:
The Friends of the Library are sponsoring a special program this evening, December 18, at 7 p.m.: Holiday Gingerbread House Demonstration presented by Chef Michael Niksic. Templates, recipes, secrets of preserving the house to last several years, and instructions will be provided to attendees as well as hot chocolate. There will be prizes, too, and one lucky person will get to take home the house built during the program. Register at the Reception Desk.

YOUTH SERVICES:
Today, at 11 a.m., Jim Gill will present his popular family-oriented sing-a-long. No tickets required for this activity which will include clapping, dancing, jumping--even sneezing--along with the music.

On Wednesday, December 20, Scales and Tails, the Chicago Traveling Zoo show, will perform twice, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Since the animals Beth Wagner will bring will be available to pet, the program is limited to children ages 3 and up and preschoolers must be accompanied by a parent. Each show is also limited to only 80 children; no tickets are required.

On Friday, December 21, the movie How To Eat Fried Worms will be shown at 10 a.m.. Rated PG, attendance is open to all ages, but preschoolers must come with an adult.

Storytimes begin again January 15.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS DECEMBER 11-17

Tonight, December 11, the film The Da Vinci Code, starring Tom Hanks, will be shown at 7:00 in the Large Meeting Room--a murder in the Louvre leads to a race against time to prevent more murders involving a 2,000-year-old secret society; clues hidden in the art of Leonardo Da Vinci provide the only solution. Rated PG. Register at the Reception Desk.

There are two Computer Classes scheduled for this week.
Microsoft Word 2002 will be offered on Wednesday, December 13, at 10:30 a.m.--learn to create, edit, and save documents
Windows Explorer will be offered on Thursday, December 14, at 10:30 a.m.--learn to organize information on a PC using files and folders
Participants must be able to use a mouse. Class size is limited. Register at the Reception Desk.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS DECEMBER 5-10

ADULT SERVICES:
On Tuesday, December 5, at 10:30 a.m., the Morning Book Group is scheduled to discuss Bernard Malamud's The Assistant. For more information, call Chris Mika at extension 271.

On Friday, December 8, a bus trip is scheduled for a visit to Cedar Creek Settlement in Wisconsin. A tour of the Pabst Mansion, lunch at the Alpine Village Restaurant, and the opportunity to shop at the Old Wittenberg Woolen Mills will be part of the journey. The bus will leave at 8 a.m. and return after 5 p.m. Register at the Reception Desk for a reasonable fee.

December 5 at 4 p.m for 3rd-5th grade
December 6 at 7 p.m. for 6th grade through High School
December 7 at 4 p.m for 1st-2nd grade
