LIBRARY HAPPENINGS NOVEMBER 27-DECEMBER 3

ADULT SERVICES:
On Monday, November 27, the film Mission Impossible III, starring Tom Cruise, will be shown in the Large Meeting Room at 7 p.m. This is the action-packed third entry in the popular series. Register at the Reception Desk.

YOUTH SERVICES:
Holiday Crafts will begin this week at various times through November 7. There are usually two sessions for each age group: pre-school through Kindergarten; 1st & second grade; third through 5th grade; sixth grade through High School. Register now in Youth Services.

HOLIDAY HOURS

The Library will be open until 10 this evening, the usual hours.

The Library will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 23, because of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

The Library will close at 5 p.m on Friday, November 24, instead of 7 p.m., because of the annual Village Tree Lighting Ceremony and Fireworks, which start at 5:30 p.m. Parking behind the Library will be prohibited after noon so the fireworks can be set up.

LIBRARY EVENTS NOVEMBER 20-26

ADULT SERVICES:
On Monday, November 20, at 7 p.m. in the Large Meeting Room, Dr. Patrick Massey, Medical Director of Complementary and Alternative Medicine, will present a program on Herbs and Dietary Supplements and how they can be used for optimal health. Register by calling Alexian Connects, 1-866-ALEXIAN (253-9426).

On Tuesday, November 21, the Evening Book Group is scheduled to discuss Kate Chopin's The Awakening at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call Adult Services, extension 271.

YOUTH SERVICES:
Storytimes have ended until mid-January.

On Friday, November 24, Dave Herzog's Marionettes will return with the Furry Follies at 10 a.m. For all ages but, pre-schoolers must come with an adult; no tickets required.

Registration is continuing for the Holiday Crafts which start November 28 and run through December 7.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS NOVEMBER 13-19

ADULT SERVICES:
On Monday, November 13, the film The Breakup, starring Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn--and set in Chicago!--will be shown at 7 p.m. in the Large Meeting Room. Register for this tale of a divorcing couple, who are each refusing to give up their condo, at the Reception Desk.

Several Computer Classes are scheduled for this week:
Monday, November 13, at 2 p.m.--Internet Basics will introduce the computer Newbie to toolbars, addresses (url's), and hyperlinks
Tuesday, November 14, at 2:30 p.m.--Windows Explorer will present easy ways to organize a PC through the use of folders and files
Thursday, November 16, at 2:30 p.m.--Microsoft Word 2000 will introduce basic uses of this popular program for creating documents
Friday, November 17, at 2:15 p.m.--Online Resources will present the various databases found on the Library's Home Page and show how to use them
All participants must be able to use a mouse. Register at the Reception Desk; class size is limited.

YOUTH SERVICES:
The big, compulsory meeting for the Battle of the Books teams and parents is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14. The rules will be presented, a demonstration mock battle will be done, and teams will verify their names, members, and conflicts.

November 13-19 is Children's Book Week and two events will be offered to help celebrate it. On Thursday, November 16, at 7 p.m., the Library will again be hosting Family Reading Night. Families are encouraged to come--kids can even wear their PJ's--and have a parent read a picture book aloud. Register at the Youth Services Desk; if a parent is going to read aloud, let us know what book will be read. Milk and cookies will be served as well.

On Saturday, November 18, kids' favorite Paddy Lynn will present her program, Color My World, at 11 a.m. The 45 minute show is for all ages, but preschoolers must come with an adult. No tickets or registration needed.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS NOVEMBER 6-12

ADULT SERVICES:
On Tuesday, November 7, the Morning Book Group will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the Library. The book listed for discussion is The Greatest Man in Cedar Hole (life in a small town) by Stephanie Doyon, but, since the previous meeting was cancelled, the group may be discussing last month's book, The Perfect Storm. Contact Chris Mika at extension 271 for more information.

Tuesday is also Election Day. Get out and VOTE!

YOUTH SERVICES:
On Thursday, November 9, students in grades 6 through High School are invited to attend the Elk Grove Tee Party! from 7-8:30 p.m. Transform an old--or just plain--T-shirt (without sewing) into a trendy fashion statement. Snacks and supplies--except for the T-shirts--will be provided. Register at the Youth Services Desk.

ADDENDUM: On Friday, November 10, there will be a showing of the G-rated film Cars at 10 a.m.

Battle of the Books team members should be signing up now individually with a parent (for permisssion and scheduling conflicts) in Youth Services. Registration ends Friday, November 10.
