LIBRARY HAPPENINGS JULY 31-AUGUST 6
ADULT SERVICES:
On Monday, July 31, the recent remake of The Pink Panther, starring Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau, will be shown in the Large Meeting Room at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Reception desk.
There is still time to sign up for the Adult Summer Reading Program which runs through September 6.
YOUTH SERVICES:
Although the Summer Reading Program officially ended last Friday, participants can still report on books read and collect prizes through this week. The final raffle for bags and movie tickets will be on Monday, July 31, at 11 a.m. On Wednesday night at 7 and on Thursday at 11, 1, and 7 there will be a special program, featuring juggler Mike Vondruska, for those who have completed the program. On Friday at noon, the YA raffle will be held during the Volunteer party.
On Friday, August 4, the movie Nanny McPhee will be shown in the Large Meeting Room at 10 a.m.. No tickets are required, but seating is limited.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS JULY 24-JULY 30
ADULT SERVICES:
On Monday, July 24, at 7:00 p.m., dietician Ellin Learned will present Part 2 of the Healthy Eating Seminar started last Monday. This session will cover Reading Nutrition Labels, a step-by-step discussion of what the backs of cans and boxes really mean and how that information can help us eat healthier. Register at the Reception Desk.
Continuing through the beginning of September is the Adult Summer Reading Program. Check it out at the Adult Services Reference Desk and play our modified Monopoly game (celebrating Elk Grove Villages's 50th Anniversary) to earn prizes and raffle tickets.
YOUTH SERVICES:
This is the last week for Summer Storytimes and programs. Friday is the last day to play the Summer Reading Program Game, though reporting can still be done through the next week. However, the last raffle drawing will be on Monday, July 31.
On Thursday, July 27, There will be three sessions of Picture Frame Craft: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 2 p.m. All ages are welcome, but preschoolers must have an adult with them. Register at the Youth Services Reference Desk.
On Friday, July 28, there will be a special Tropical Bird Show presented by Larry the Birdman from Florida. [n.b. The Happy Hookbill program originally sceduled was cancelled because of illness]. There will be two performances: 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. No tickets are necessary, but seating is limited. All ages are welcome, but preschoolers need to come with a parent.

ADULT SERVICES:
The Evening Book Group will be meeting on Tuesday, July 18, at 7:00 p.m. They are scheduled to discuss Sue Monk's The Secret Life of Bees. For more information contact Chris Mika at extension 271.
There will be two Computer Classes this week:
Microsoft Word 2000 on Tuesday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m.--patrons able to use a mouse can learn the basics of creating, saving, and editing a document
Windows Explorer on Thursday, July 20, at 10:30 a.m.--organize your PC with files and folders
Register at the Reception desk for these classes; class size is limited.
YOUTH SERVICES:
On Thursday, July 20, there will be a special Birthday Party Program to celebrate the Village's 50th birthday. There will be 4 sessions: 10 a.m., 11 a.m. (full), 2 p.m. (full), and 3 p.m. For all ages, but preschoolers/K most have an adult with them. Register for the classes at the Youth Services Reference Desk.
On Friday, July 21, Justin Roberts, singer/songwriter recording artist will appear at 11 a.m. For ages 2 and up--under K must have an adult with them--, no tickets will be necessary. Seating is limited, however.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS JULY 10-16
ADULT SERVICES:
Om Monday, July 10, at 7:00 p.m., the film Glory Road, starring Josh Lucas as legendary Texas basketball coach, Don Haskins, will be shown in the Large Meeting Room. This movie is about the first all-black starters on a college team in the 60's that reached the NCAA finals. Register at the Reception desk.
On Wednesday, July 12, the Computer Class Internet: Beyond the Basics will be given at 7:15 p.m. Shortcuts and tricks will be taught to participants already somewhat familiar with the Internet. Register at the Reception desk.
YOUTH SERVICES:
On Monday, July 10, freestyle X Games medalist Matt Wilhelm will put on a demonstration of bike tricks in the Library Parking Lot at 2:00 p.m. No tickets are necessary for this all-ages performance.
The Babysitter's Training Course will be held on Wednesday, July 12, and Friday, July 14, from 2-6 p.m. each day. This class is filled.
On Thursday, July 13, Land before Elk Grove Village: Dinosaurs will be held at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 2 p.m. There will be stories, crafts, and surprises. For all ages, but pre-schoolers must have an adult with them. Register at the Youth Services Desk.
Also on July 13, Kenmei Rokugatsu will return with an introduction to drawing manga, Back to the Basics: Anime and Manga. Scheduled to run from 7-8:30 p.m., there will be pizza, pop, drawing materials, and raffle prizes. 6th graders through high school are asked to register at the Youth Services Desk as the class size is limited.

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS JULY 3-9
The only scheduled Library program for this week is in Youth Services. Bingo will be played on Thursday, July 6, at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. Open to all ages, there will be lots of prizes including some very cute stuffed animals. Sign up in Youth Services.

LIBRARY CLOSING JULY 4TH
The Library will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, and will re-open at the usual time on Wednesday, July 5. The Library will be open the usual hours on Monday, July 3, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
